If you can confidently shoulder mount, you should be able to aerially shoulder mount. Be sure to practice this and only attempt aerial shoulder mount when totally confident with floor shoulder mount. Ideally you should make sure to be standing as upright against the pole as possible as opposed to your feet out in front of you with your legs at an angle.
Aerial shoulder mount opens up a world of pole dance combos. Getting into the position to aerially shoulder mount is a little more challenging however. It's scary to have to hold onto the pole backwards in the air. You also will not have a way to start at an angle to make the lift easier like you can when starting from the floor. It's very important to have a strong core and strong abdominal muscles.

I taught floor chair class for 5 years and then never danced on a chair again until this week. I must say I have been inspired to break out the chair and take it for a spin. I think it will have to make a resurgence.
